Dial up, Home-Broadband, Business-Broadband,
Domain names, Web-pages, Email
KCI has a long-standing relationship with PlaNet for the supply of retail internet services like dialup, DSL (broadband by telephone line), wireless broadband, single site web-page hosting, domain names, email services.
Please see www.pl.net for all retail services to home-users and small to medium business.
A `Faster than Broadband' service called Elite Business UNS is available. This ADSL service over ordinary copper lines delivers up to 2Mbs upload and download and is a dedicated bandwidth service (no pooling). Because this service varies according to site location and specific data-capacity needs, please email KCI for a quote, giving the location of your business, speed required (over 256kbs up to 2Mbs) and international/domestic capacity split.
If you wish KCI to provide wholesale supply of these services to you in your capacity as a retail ISP, we are more than happy to quote you wholesale costs for bulk supply, please email office @ kci.net.nz with your proposal.
In the case of wireless broadband we have our own in-house system called Commspace which we contract out on an area-by-area basis… see commspace.net or email office @ kci.net.nz
Email office at kci.net.nz with your request for quote.
Why Peak is the Baseline
One of the most fundamental issues for buyers and sellers of wholesale Internet connectivity is to recognise and understand the difference between the concept of "peak" and "average" use when it comes to Internet services. This applies equally to provision of high-speed data capacity or even to the provisioning of adequate numbers of ports for servicing of dialup clients.
The reality for wholesale providers is that slow-down (and hence perception of supplier performance) occurs during peaks. Thus, to maintain high performance capacity, suppliers need to buy on peak traffic levels. That is exactly why KCI sells on peaks.
Exactly this same reasoning applies to dialup services: a busy tone occurs during peak usage periods, if the number of ports is under-provisioned. Thus, to avoid busy tones we sell based on peak draw or demand. In our view, it is prudent for wholesalers to provision dialup ports on the basis of peak usage rather than some calculated "average" dialup usage levels.
